Mapping Land Surface Temperature Developments in Functional Urban Areas across Europe
نویسندگان
چکیده
Unsustainable development paths have reached critical levels in Europe. In recent years, cities, urbanization has been contributing to the intensification of urban heat islands. To analyze surface islands (SUHI) Europe last few present study combines land temperature (LST) from MODIS with classes CORINE cover data within 617 functional areas (FUAs). Urban and industrial uses significantly higher LST than green across all years (about 4 6 °C), as do agricultural cities. Besides cover, location also influences differences. While, e.g., Bolzano (Italy) shows particularly large differences (>6 °C) between core commuting zone, this effect is hardly visible Porto (Portugal) Madrid (Spain) (<2.5 °C). Cities moderate climates show increasing a city its zones rising (r = 0.68), i.e., less cooling effects at night.

Impact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature
The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...
متن کاملMicroclimate land surface temperatures across urban land use/ land cover forms
Urbanization brings biophysical changes in the composition of the landscape. Such change has an impact on the thermal environment locally. The urban mosaic of land use and land cover is thus characteristically composed of local climate zones. The spatial variation in the land surface temperature across specific zone is studied for Bhopal city. The objective of the study was to understand how th...
متن کاملUrban Surface Biophysical Descriptors and Land Surface Temperature Variations
In remote sensing studies of land surface temperatures (LST), thematic land-use and land-cover (LULC) data are frequently employed for simple correlation analyses between LULC types and their thermal signatures. Development of quantitative surface descriptors could improve our capabilities for modeling urban thermal landscapes and advance urban climate research. This study developed an analytic...
متن کاملLand Surface Temperature and Biophysical Factors in Urban Planning
Land surface temperature (LST) is an important parameter to study in urban climate. The understanding of the influence of biophysical factors could improve the establishment of modeling urban thermal landscape. It is well established that climate hold a great influence on the urban landscape. However, it has been recognize that climate has a low priority in urban planning process, due to the co...
متن کاملInvestigation of Impervious surface and Urban Surface Temperature in Qaemshahr
Information on a variation of impervious surface is useful for understanding urbanization and its impacts on the hydrological cycle, water management, surface energy balances, urban heat island, and biodiversity. This research attempts to detect impervious surfaces and its changes by satellite imagery in Qaemshahr. The relationship between impervious surfaces and changes in land surface tempera...
